Site Characterization

Field Observations

The Copeland Creek sampling location is the most southern sampling point for the 2009 sampling season. The samples are collected immediately upstream from the Commerce Blvd Bridge at the City of Rohnert Park Building just south of a group of strip malls.

This site is dominated by non-native privet (Ligustrum sp.) in the over story that are less than 5 meters tall and are between 1-6" in DBH. California bay (Umbellularia californica) is also common in the over story. Himalayan blackberry (Rubus discolor) is the dominant species in the understory and has about 10% cover. There are a few non-native, possibly planted species at this site, including Cotoneaster sp. Other deciduous tree or shrub species may be present but were unidentifiable at the time of sampling. Evidence of last season's horsetail (Equisetum sp. (telmateia?) and Harding grass (Phalaris aquatica) were present in low densities. Total Cover: 25%
